Hello again! This week I will be presenting about Assessments for you. We will discuss three methods: interactive quizzes, a tool for students to teach what they know, and e-potfolios. I have provided a detailed analysis for Using Blogger as an E-Portfolio. You can find a link to the document below.

Blogger Pages

You can follow blogs by adding the URLs to your "Reading List" on Blogger. On your Blogger home page, under the list of the blogs you have created, is a section called "Reading List." Just click to "add" and paste your classmates' blog addresses there. Then you will be able to see when someone posts a new entry! If your Blogger address isn't on this page yet, write it in a comment! Thanks!

Review of Blogger (Example)

Here is an example of the kind of technology review I would like you to do. 10-15 sentences is a good length. Try to bring up interesting points that others may not have considered. Also, feel free to research and read other people's opinions (outside of our class members).

Blogger Review

Description: Blogger is a popular blogging platform from Google. It allows users to easily create their own blogs in under 5 minutes. With 7 different templates to choose from, people can customize their blogs to their own tastes. The uses for Blogger range greatly: travel writing, restaurant reviews, personal journals, class sites, student portfolios, etc.

Pros: The best points about Blogger, compared to other sites such as Wordpress, is that if someone already has a google account, they can just use the same email address. Another good point is that if you want others to read your blog, you can share it in your Google+ circles. That's a good way to gain popularity and make new friends also.

Cons: The downside of Blogger is that you can't easily follow other people's blogs. The best way is to bookmark them in your browser, but that is not effective if you use more than one computer/device to access blogs.

Overall Feeling: I feel that Blogger is an effective blogging platform because it is extremely easy to use. There are so many potential uses that someone can take advantage of the opportunity to create a number of different types of blogs. THey can be kept for personal reading only (like a journal), or can be made for the whole world to read.

Class 3

In this week's class, I will be demonstrating the technology of Blogging and giving you a model for how I would like you to teach your chosen technology to the class. As part of my demonstration, I will show everyone how to create a Blogger.com page and we will write our first blog post.

Starting this week, everyone will be required to write a Review (opinion/fact-based judgment) about some technology discussed in class. It can be about the same tehcnology we used in class, or a different program/platform than what we did in class. For example, today I am showing you Blogger.com. Therefore, when you review a blogging platform, it can be Blogger or a different site. You could also review Jing, Wordpress, Instagram, etc.

Your blog review will have 4 parts: 1. Description of the tool; 2. Pros (Good points of the tool); 3. Cons (Bad points of the tool); and 4. Overall feeling (opinions are encouraged).

Week 2

Hi everyone,

This week in class, we will see an overview of all the different topics you will have the option of teaching to the class. Be prepared to choose a topic and start working with your new group members.

I am posting a link to the PPT I showed in class about the History of CALL. Also, here is the syllabus as it is currently written. It will change once you decide on your topics, and I will re-post it. See you all soon!
